WKSHOP MINUTES
Minutes: Kay Scott, NCLB/Federal Grants Director, reviewed the following: Introduction to Supplemental Services (SES) and 47 SES Eligible Schools 2005-2006. Judy Klinek, Director of Supplemental Educational Services, summarized the following: Timeline for SES; Parental Outreach; School Outreach; Provider Outreach; and Oversight of SES. Ms. Scott presented Board Members with a brief overview of the Supplemental Educational Services for FY07. Mrs. Burdick stated that there are a significant number of children being left behind with this legislation and requested staff prepare a document that provides an overview of the impacts to be sent to the new congressional representatives in the state of Florida. Mrs. Burdick questioned if the number of schools that qualify is increasing because the bar is being raised. Dr. Johnson announced that in FY05, Title I received a perfect audit under staffs direction. Dr. Robinson questioned staff on what they feel needs to be fixed in regards to funding. Ms. Scott responded that she would allow the District to provide the services and approve providers. Dr. Johnson relayed to Board Members that Broward County provided all of their SES internally and the State Board of Education sanctioned them and were forced to repay $11 million.
